A world-class urban park for all of San Antonio is the vision of Hemisfair.
In October 2016, the first part of that vision was realized with the opening of Yanaguana Garden, an inspiring playground for both children and adults. Funded through the 2012 City of San Antonio bond program, Yanaguana Garden welcomed approximately 500,000 visitors in its first year, making it the second most frequented park in Texas, rivaled only by Klyde Warren Park in Dallas. San Antonians from every city council district, and nearly every zip code are visiting Yanaguana Garden with their families.
The next phase of Hemisfair’s development is the creation of Civic Park, nine acres of immaculate park space surrounded by apartments, shops, offices, restaurants, cafes and a small hotel that will generate revenue for the ongoing maintenance and operations of the park. Additionally, bond funding will help reconnect surrounding neighborhood with accessible, multi-modal streets and pathways, and revitalize historic structures making them viable spaces to house local businesses.
Hemisfair’s Civic Park will bring San Antonio residents to live, work and shop in an innovative mixed-use community. Over ten years of development, Hemisfair is estimated to generate $4 billion in positive impact and create an estimated 2,000 full-time jobs for the community.
